Book Parties
On the third Saturday of each month, Peacemakers hosts free Book Parties for neighborhood children in South Rocky Mount, Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Each Book Party is designed to make reading joyful and accessible. Children enjoy lunch together, listen to a guest reader share a story aloud, and participate in engaging, literacy-based activities. Most importantly, every child selects several books to take home and keep.
Many low-income families have limited access to age-appropriate reading materials. By helping children build their own in-home libraries, this program strengthens daily reading habits and supports long-term academic growth. Over time, these books become more than stories on a shelf—they become tools for confidence, imagination, and educational success.
